Forgotten Memories

Close your eyes and step into an attic,
In the far corner you see a faded wooden box
with items stacked upon it.
You work your way to it and clear away years of rubble stacked on top,You run your hands over the aged wooden box, and you can tell it was once painted Bright colors that
are now faded with age,
This box placed there by Loving hands so long ago,for safe keeping has long been forgotten.
You lift the lid slowly to look inside,A handmade rag doll,With button eyes and red yarn hair lies waiting
for a child long since grown,
You gently lift the doll out and start to look through the well loved toys that fill the box,
You can tell each toy was special and had been handmade with love and care,from the cloth and yarn dolls to the wooden blocks,train and well loved hobbie horse.
This box contained the memories of a childhood,Once filled with laughter, love and joy, and you can almost see a child as they smile while playing with the toys.....
With the collection of patterns and plans you will find here,
I hope you can make your own memories filled
with laughter,love and joy
That too one day will be found as a treasure.

Gentle Annie

MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64
3 balls of No. 70 Blue Jewel, and
CLARK'S O.N.T. BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. B.4
Size 30: 1 ball of White.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hooks No. 7 and No. 10.
4 yards of deep rose satin ribbon, ⅝ inch wide. 
3 small snap fasteners. 
A tiny flower. 
A doll 11 inches tall; waist 5 ½ inches.
DRESS SKIRT 
Starting at top with Blue Jewel, make a chain 6 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 4, turn. Now work in rnds, picking up back loop only: 1st rnd: Tr in first 2 sts, * 2 tr in next st (an inc), tr in next st. Repeat from * across. Join last tr to top of starting chain. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 4, tr in each tr around. Join. 4th rnd: Ch 4, tr in same place as sl st, * tr in next 2 tr, 2 tr in next tr. Repeat from * around. Join. 5th and 6th rnds: Repeat first rnd. 7th rnd: Ch 4, tr in same place as sl st, * tr in next 3 tr, 2 tr in next tr. Repeat from * around. Join. 8th rnd: Ch 4, tr in each tr around. Join. 9th rnd: Ch 4, tr in same place as sl st, * tr in next tr, 2 tr in next tr. Repeat from * around. Join. 10th to 13th rnds incl: Ch 4, tr in each tr around. Join.
FIRST PEPLUM 
1st rnd: Attach Blue to free loop of first sc on first row of Skirt, ch 4, tr in same st, * 3 tr in next st, 2 tr in next st. Repeat from * around. Join. 2nd to 5th rnds incl: Ch 4, tr in back loop of each tr around. Join. Break off at end of 5th rnd.

SECOND PEPLUM 
 1st rnd: Attach Blue to free loop of first tr on 4th rnd of Skirt, ch 4, 2 tr in each st around. Join. Complete as for First Peplum.
BODICE 
 1st row: Attach Blue to opposite side of starting chain on Skirt, ch 3, * holding back on hook the last loop of each dc make dc in next 2 ch, thread over and draw through all loops on hook. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across, increasing 8 dc evenly across, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 3rd and 4th rows: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 5th row: Inc 10 dc evenly across. Ch 3, turn. 6th row: Inc 6 dc evenly across. Ch 3, turn. 7th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 9 dc, ch 10 for armhole, skip 6 dc, dc in each dc across to within last 16 dc, ch 10 for other armhole, skip 6 dc, dc in each remaining dc and in top of turning chain. Break off.
SLEEVE 
Work as for Sleeve on Sweet Genevieve Doll until 5 rnds have been completed. 6th, 7th and 8th rnds: Repeat 3rd rnd. 9th to 15th rnds incl: Repeat 6th to 12th rnds. Complete other Sleeve the same way.
Sew 3 snap fasteners to back opening. Lace ribbon through last rnd of each Peplum on Skirt. Sew ends securely.
CAPE 
Starting at top with Blue, ch 35 to measure 5 inches. 1st row: 2 tr in 5th ch from hook, 2 tr in each ch across. Ch 4, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: Tr in each tr across, increasing 12 tr evenly across, tr in top of turning chain. Ch 4, turn. 4th row: Skip first tr, tr in each tr across, tr in top of turning chain. Ch 4, turn. 5th, 6th and 7th rows: Skip first tr, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr make tr in next 3 tr, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (2 tr decreased), tr in each tr across to within last 3 tr, dec 2 tr. Ch 4, turn. Break off at end of 7th row.
Lace ribbon through 4th row of tr's, sew ends securely. Cut 2 pieces of ribbon, each 8 inches long. Sew a piece to each side of Cape.
CAP 
Starting at long side with White, Size 30 and No. 10 hook, make a chain long enough to reach around doll's head and under chin. 1st row: Dc in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in first dc, (ch 3, sc in next dc) 25 times. Turn. 3rd row: Sl st in first loop and repeat 10th and 11th rnds of Sleeves. Break off.
Make a tiny rosette of ribbon and sew to narrow edge of band. Sew flower to center of rosette. Sew a snap fastener to band. Tie remaining ribbon around waist.
PETTICOAT 
 Cut a strip of 6-inch crinoline hemline binding 18 inches long. Gather across one long side to fit around doll's waist. Sew back seam, leaving a 1-inch opening at top. Sew bias binding around top. Sew a hook and eye at back. Turn up hem to correspond with length of skirt.
PANTIES 
Starting at waist make a chain long enough to reach around widest part of doll. Join, being careful not to twist. 1st to 4th rnds incl: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join. For 11-inch dolls work 9 rnds (instead of 4 rnds). Ch 4 for crotch and sl st directly opposite. Break off. Draw cord through sts of 1st rnd.
